A K-12 school in Ona, WV is seeking a skilled Sign Language Interpreter (SLI) to provide professional interpretation services for the uping school year on a contract basis. This position plays a critical role in facilitating effective munication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff, ensuring equal access to educational opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to support student understanding and engagement
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards for interpreters
- Provide real-time interpretation to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Assist in creating an accessible learning environment for deaf or hard-of-hearing students
Qualifications and Experience:
- Proficiency in American Sign Language and English, with strong interpreting skills
- Prior experience working as a Sign Language Interpreter in K-12 educational settings preferred
