Position Summary:
Chi-Chack is recruiting a pool of interested candidates for potential interpretation roles in a variety of languages. Interpretation roles may support various government agencies and qualified candidates may be asked to apply to those roles as they become available.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide simultaneous and/or consecutive interpretation between English and one or more target languages.
- Accurately convey the meaning, tone, and intent of spoken communications while maintaining cultural sensitivity.
- Interpret oral conversations in real-time, ensuring clarity and understanding for all parties involved.
- Observe and analyze cultural nuances, non-verbal cues, and context to enhance communication effectiveness.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all assignments.
- Provide cultural insights and context to facilitate effective communication between parties.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED:
- Proficiency in English and at least one other language, with demonstrated skills in speaking and listening.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency through an industry standard assessment.
- Minimum of three years of experience in oral interpretation.
- Familiarity using over-the-phone interpretation platforms.
- Ability to pass a background check or obtain a security clearance, if required for specific assignments.
- Be a US citizen or lawful permanent resident.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL PREFERRED:
- Experience in high-pressure environments, such as legal, medical, or government settings, is preferred.
- Industry relevant certifications for Interpretation (e.g., Certified Court Interpreter)
- Degree in linguistics, interpretation, or a related field.
- Active security clearance.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and travel, if necessary.
