Overview
The CBS Therapy Language Difference Facilitator (LDF) is a vital member of our evaluation team. LDFs facilitate communication and understanding between clients and evaluators when linguistic or cultural differences exist. They act as intermediaries, ensuring accurate and culturally sensitive information exchange throughout the evaluation process.
Basic Functions
- Serve as a communication bridge between the evaluator and the client/family.
- Interpret language (orally and in writing) during evaluations.
- Convey cultural nuances and expectations to the evaluator.
- Assist in the administration of evaluation tools.
Responsibilities
- Accurately interpret spoken and written communication between the evaluator and client/family.
- Translate evaluation materials as needed.
- Provide insights to the evaluator on how cultural factors may influence client responses.
- Administer evaluation items as directed by the evaluator.
- Relay client responses verbatim to the evaluator.
- Complete parent/client interviews and accurately record responses.
- Maintain professional demeanor and adhere to CBS Therapy's ethical standards.
- Track and report evaluation and travel time accurately to the office manager for compensation.
- Collaborate effectively with the evaluator and other team members.
Skills Needed
- Bilingual Fluency: fluency in the target language and English.
- Cultural Competency: Deep understanding of the cultural norms and values of the client population.
- Interpretation and Translation Skills: Ability to accurately convey meaning between languages, both orally and in writing.
- Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build rapport with clients and effectively collaborate with the evaluator.
- Active Listening: Ability to attentively listen and accurately interpret both verbal and non-verbal communication.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulousness in recording and relaying information.
- Professionalism: Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to ethical guidelines.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred (e.g., Linguistics, Interpretation, Communication).
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of ethical guidelines related to interpretation and client confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Note: This is a 1099 contractor position.
