We are seeking a professional legal interpreter with proven experience to interpret for a legal deposition.
Requirements/Qualifications:
● Must speak Mauritian Creole and English
● Strict adherence to the Interpreters Code of Ethics (https://www.ncihc.org/assets/z2021Images/NCIHC%20National%20Code%20of%20Ethics.pdf0
● Render correct concepts and meanings according to the conventions of established interpretation protocol
● Provide clear and accurate renditions with no additions or omissions
● Employ good customer service and clear enunciation, pronunciation, pleasant and professional voice as well as polite forms of expression
● Follow client’s instructions, manage the flow of the communication and avoid taking over the communication, as well as avoid interaction with the Limited English proficiency speaker without client's permission
● Understand protocol and terminology in the legal industry
● Maintain a professional demeanor throughout the assignment at all times
● Have access to the Internet or work related electronic communication
● Provide clarification and cultural brokering using excellent judgment and skill
● Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment'
Expectations:
● This is a freelance position
● As an Independent Contractor you will submit invoices as required by The Department of Labor.
