Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A full-time Sign Language Interpreter position is available to support K-12 students within middle and high school settings in the Franklin area near Hendersonville, TN. This contract role begins as soon as possible and runs through May 22, 2026. The assignment requires on-site work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide accurate and effective sign language interpretation services for general education students in middle and high school classrooms.
- Facilitate communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and teachers, peers, and school staff.
- Support student learning by ensuring accessibility to spoken and visual classroom content.
- Collaborate with educators and support personnel to promote inclusion and understanding.
Qualifications:
- Valid credentials and proficiency as a Sign Language Interpreter.
- EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment) score of 3.5 or higher.
- Experience working with K-12 students, ideally in general education settings.
- Ability to manage caseloads across multiple schools.
- Strong communication skills and professionalism.
