Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Pashto & Dari Interpreter to support our community outreach initiatives. Before applying, please note that we will be testing your language skills. Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and culturally appropriate interpretation between Dari or Pashto speakers and English-speaking staff or clients during community outreach events, meetings, and appointments.
- Assist in translating written documents, informational materials, and signage as needed.
- Support the organization in outreach activities by interpreting at community events, health clinics, educational sessions, and other engagements.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information shared during interpretation sessions.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication strategies are implemented across various programs.
- Promote cultural awareness and understanding among community members and staff through effective interpretation and communication.
Experience
- Multilingual proficiency in Pashto, Dari, and English is required; additional language skills such as American Sign Language are a plus.
- Prior experience in interpretation, translation, or linguistics is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly and empathetically across different cultural contexts.
- Familiarity with community outreach settings, social services, healthcare environments, or educational programs is advantageous.
- Bilingual individuals with excellent interpersonal skills who are committed to community service are highly encouraged to apply.
Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
