Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Independent Contractor Mongolian OPI (Over-the-Phone) Interpreter to provide accurate and confidential interpretation services. This role involves facilitating clear communication between Mongolian speakers and English-speaking clients across various settings, including healthcare, legal, and social services. The ideal candidate will possess strong linguistic abilities, excellent communication skills, and a professional attitude to ensure effective and culturally sensitive interpretation. As an independent contractor, you will have the flexibility to choose your working hours while maintaining high-quality service standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide real-time over-the-phone interpretation between Mongolian speakers and English-speaking clients in diverse settings.
- Accurately translate spoken language while maintaining the speaker’s intent, tone, and cultural nuances.
- Facilitate clear communication during complex conversations, ensuring all parties understand each other fully.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines related to sensitive information.
- Manage your own schedule and workload as an independent contractor, ensuring timely availability for assigned interpreting sessions.
- Utilize appropriate interpretation techniques, including translation of idiomatic expressions and specialized terminology when necessary.
- Continually update language skills and stay informed about terminology relevant to various industries such as healthcare, legal, or social services.
Experience
- Multilingual proficiency in Mongolian and English is required; additional language skills such as American Sign Language or other dialects are a plus.
- Prior experience in interpretation or translation roles is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided if needed.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey messages clearly, accurately, and professionally.
- Knowledge of linguistics principles and interpretation standards to ensure high-quality service delivery.
- Familiarity with cultural sensitivities and the ability to adapt communication styles accordingly.
