Our games live for years, so story, characters, and tone must remain consistent across frequent live updates, seasonal events, and platform releases. We are looking for a Game Writer to help us create narrative content across the
Good, Great universe.
About The Role
We are seeking a talented, motivated Game Writer to join our creative team. You'll write character dialogue, storylines, and in-game moments for
Good Pizza, Great Pizza and
Good Coffee, Great Coffee that keep our global player community coming back. This is a hands-on writing role, you'll create content for live updates, seasonal events, and future releases while maintaining the warmth and humor our players love.
Responsibilities
Story & Content Development
- Design and write creative event narratives and seasonal arcs; character dialogue and story beats; in-game narrative moments and flavor text;
- Develop story content that supports gameplay pacing and player experience;
- Balance humor, warmth, and emotional resonance with clarity and consistency.
Narrative Quality
- Maintain narrative logic, character consistency, and tone across all story content;
- Ensure characters remain true to their established personalities and motivations;
- Identify and resolve narrative issues before content reaches review or release.
Cross-Team Collaboration
- Partner closely with Game Designers to integrate narrative into mechanics and events;
- Collaborate with art team to align visual storytelling, character portrayal and theme decors;
- Work with community team to ensure narrative tone aligns with player expectations.
What We're Looking For
- Creative, can piece together seemingly random ideas into a cohesive piece;
- Character development and world-building skills;
- Strong sense of character voice, motivation, and emotional continuity;
- Ability to balance schedules with creative requirements;
- Passion for games and familiarity with the Good Pizza, Great Pizza and Good Coffee, Great Coffee universes is a big plus;
- Great attention to details and strong editing abilities - please mention "beauty is in the details" in your application or cover letter.
Education & Experience
- 3+ years of experience in game writing, narrative design, character-driven storytelling, or equivalent professional writing experience (screenwriting, interactive fiction, etc.);
- Strong understanding of narrative systems and how story integrates with gameplay;
- Preferred: Experience with localization adaptation;
- Preferred: Experience with simulation, cozy, or character-centric games;
- Preferred: Familiarity with Yarn narrative scripting tool.
Location & Work Environment
- Los Angeles, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work;
- Prolonged period of time sitting at a desk and computer.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $60,000 to $100,000 per year depending on experience.
