We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Health Translator/Interpreter to facilitate effective communication between healthcare providers and diverse patient populations. This role requires fluency in multiple languages, with a strong emphasis on English and bilingual capabilities. The ideal candidate will possess excellent translation, interpretation, and communication skills to ensure accurate and culturally sensitive exchanges in medical settings. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to patient care and health outcomes through linguistic expertise.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate oral interpretation during medical appointments, consultations, and procedures, ensuring clear understanding between healthcare professionals and patients.
- Translate written documents, including medical records, consent forms, and educational materials, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality.
- Proofread and review translated content for clarity, correctness, and cultural appropriateness.
- Assist with transcription of medical notes or recordings as needed.
- Facilitate communication in emergency situations by providing immediate interpretation services.
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to improve language access services and ensure compliance with privacy regulations.
- Maintain professional knowledge of medical terminology across multiple languages through ongoing learning and linguistics training.
Requirements
- Multilingual proficiency in English and at least one other language; bilingual candidates preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in translation, interpretation, or transcription within healthcare or related fields.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and empathetically.
- Excellent proofreading and writing skills to produce accurate translated documents.
- Background or experience in linguistics is highly desirable.
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced environments while maintaining confidentiality.
- Prior linguist experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for qualified candidates committed to professional development.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.24 - $30.40 per hour
