In Laos, PanAust owns a 90 per cent interest in Phu Bia Mining Limited with the Government of Laos owning the remaining 10 per cent. Phu Bia Mining owns and operates PanAust’s two award winning operations – Phu Kham Copper-Gold and Ban Houayxai Gold-Silver, both located in Xaisomboun Province, 120km north of Vientiane.
In Papua New Guinea, PanAust holds a 100 per cent interest in the Frieda River Limited Copper-Gold project, which is a transformative pre-development integrated mining, renewable energy and infrastructure project.
In Chile, PanAust holds a 66 per cent interest in the Inca de Oro Copper-Gold Project through a Chilean incorporated joint venture company, Inca de Oro S. A.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Translator to join our team, based in our Corporate Head Office in Fortitude Valley’s James Street precinct.
The Translation Officer will provide accurate and timely English–Chinese translation services for corporate documentation, including Board and Committee materials, and support clear, consistent communication across key internal and external Group publications.
The role will initially be offered on a 18 month fixed term basis, working part time for 2-3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Translate documents, reports, correspondence, technical materials, and other internal documentation and content, as required.
- Ensure translations are accurate, contextually appropriate, and aligned with organisational standards.
- Maintain consistency in terminology and formatting across translated materials.
- Review and proofread translated content to ensure quality and clarity.
- Verify technical terms, legal terminology, and industry-specific language to ensure precision.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to clarify meaning where required.
- Liaise with internal departments to understand translation requirements and deadlines.
- Provide language support and advice to internal stakeholders, as needed.
- Assist with interpretation during meetings or workshops (if required).
To be successful in this role, you will require the following:
- Fluency in written and spoken English and Chinese, with the ability to accurately translate complex information between both languages.
- Proven experience in professional translation, ideally within a corporate environment.
- Demonstrated ability to translate a range of materials including reports, technical documentation, correspondence and executive-level content.
- Ability to interpret and accurately translate technical and/or legal terminology; prior exposure to the mining or resources sector is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance standards.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with internal departments and subject matter experts to clarify meaning and requirements.
- Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Qualifications in Translation, Linguistics or a related field (desirable). This role is also an excellent opportunity for individuals studying or looking to establish a long-term career within the mining and resources industry.
The role is being offered on a part time basis for 2-3 days per week. Hours can be flexible based on individual circumstances.
