Duties
- Provide accurate, culturally sensitive interpretation for medical consultations, procedures, and patient interactions across multiple languages.
- Assist with interpretation during hospital visits, emergency situations, social work assessments, and child protective services cases
- Review and verify medical documentation for accuracy and completeness to support effective communication among healthcare teams
- Support hospital staff by facilitating communication with patients from diverse linguistic backgrounds to enhance patient understanding and satisfaction
- Maintain confidentiality of all protected health information (PHI) in accordance with HIPAA standards
- Document interpreted sessions accurately in medical records and ensure proper documentation review for quality assurance
Qualifications
- Fluent proficiency in at least two languages, including strong command of medical terminology and interpretation skills
- Certification or demonstrated experience as a Medical Interpreter preferred; bilingual candidates with relevant training are encouraged to apply
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security
- Experience working in hospital settings or with social work agencies is highly desirable
- Ability to interpret accurately in high-pressure situations while maintaining professionalism and empathy
- Familiarity with child protective services procedures and medical records management is a plus
- Excellent communication skills, active listening abilities, and cultural competency are essential for success in this role
