Position Overview:
We seek a dynamic individual who is a proficient American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter and an effective scheduler. This dual-role position requires someone who can provide high-quality interpreting services while also managing the scheduling needs of our interpreting team.
Key Responsibilities:
ASL Interpreting
- Provide accurate and effective ASL interpretation for various appointments, meetings, and events.
- Ensure clear and concise communication between Deaf and hearing individuals in various settings, including medical, legal, educational, and business environments.
- Adhere to professional ethical standards and maintain confidentiality at all times.
Scheduling:
- Coordinate and manage the schedules of our team of interpreters, ensuring optimal coverage for all client needs.
- Communicate with clients to assess their needs and assign appropriate interpreters for each assignment.
- Monitor and adjust schedules as necessary to accommodate changes or emergencies.
- Maintain accurate records of assignments and interpreter availability.
Qualifications:
- Fluent in American Sign Language with a strong understanding of Deaf culture.
- RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) certification or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience as an ASL interpreter in various settings is highly desirable.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
