JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Title: Spanish Interpreter/Translator, part time employment up to 20 hours per week up to $25 per hour plus SERS/STRS contribution
Work Location(s): Riverside Local Schools, 585 Riverside Dr., Painesville Township, OH 44077
Reports to: Director of Student Services
The Spanish Interpreter is responsible for providing oral interpretation and written translation
services to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking individuals and
English-speaking individuals, in a school setting. The Spanish Interpreter will interpret
conversations and translate or prepare documents, from one language to another. The Spanish
Interpreter must be able to accurately convey the meaning of the source language to the target
language, and vice versa. This position requires a high level of cultural and linguistic
competence.
Desired Qualifications:
? Excellent verbal and written communication in both Spanish and English
? Ability to accurately interpret and translate Spanish to English and vice versa
? Computer literacy and experience with software and applications used in the school
setting
Minimum Qualifications:
? Must be fluent in both English and Spanish
? Ability to accurately interpret both oral and written Spanish
? Ability to maintain professionalism and respect at all times for confidential information,
e.g., student test scores and family information, personnel, and documents
? High school diploma or equivalent
Performance Responsibilities
Specific Duties:
1. Translate spoken and written Spanish into English and vice versa
2. Provide accurate interpretations of conversations, documents, and other materials
3. Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, students, and staff members
4. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
General Duties:
1. Maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions

4. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor or other designee
5. Provides critical analysis as needed
6. Generates written work-product as needed

8. Must not disrupt the proper functioning of your position or department
9. Must not undermine the authority of coworkers, supervisors, or superiors
10. Must maintain close working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and superiors
11. Must ensure that official communications are accurate, demonstrate sound judgment,
and promote the employer’s mission
12. Must ensure that all applicable laws and regulations are followed. In the event the
employee becomes aware of any non-compliance by the District or other staff, the
employee is to report such to his/her immediate supervisor (or the next higher level, if
the supervisor is responsible for the problem) and maintain confidentiality of the report
so that the problem can be appropriately corrected in the best interests of the District
13. The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance
abuse in the workplace throughout his/her contracted employment with the Riverside
Local School District
14. Must serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as
responsible, intelligent human beings
