Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Spanish Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication between Spanish-speaking clients and healthcare, social service, or child protective agencies. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpretation skills, cultural competence, and a thorough understanding of medical and social work terminology. This role is vital in ensuring effective communication, compliance with confidentiality standards, and the delivery of quality services across diverse settings.

Responsibilities

Provide real-time interpretation between Spanish-speaking clients and professionals in medical, social work, or child protective services contexts.
Accurately translate documents, medical records, and other written materials as needed.
Assist with documentation review to ensure clarity and completeness of client information.
Support communication during hospital visits, social service appointments, and other client interactions.
Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and organizational policies.
Utilize American Sign Language if applicable to facilitate communication for clients with hearing impairments.
Document interpretation sessions accurately for record-keeping purposes.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure culturally sensitive service delivery.

Requirements

Multilingual proficiency in Spanish and English; bilingual skills are essential.
Demonstrated experience in interpretation within healthcare or social services settings preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA compliance, and documentation review processes.
Familiarity with child protective services procedures and hospital environments is a plus.
Strong communication skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and compassionately.
Experience working with medical records and understanding of social work practices is advantageous.
Certification or training in interpretation or translation is preferred but not mandatory.
Ability to maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity at all times.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
