About
My name is Alessandra and I’m an Italian translator with an everlasting passion for languages and communication in all its forms.
Fascinated by stories and by the millions of nuances that a single word can bring, I chose to make languages my life, first by studying foreign languages, then by specializing in translation and interpreting and graduating with top honours.
My interests, in general, are quite varied, from historical fencing, to musicals, literature, cinema, boardgames, and even editing, to mention a few. These varied interests make me an adaptable asset when it comes to fitting different genres.
I constantly strive to improve myself and my skills, focusing on building up my resume and strengthening my experience in localization and editorial translation.
I have collaborated with the international platform Global Voices since 2021, translating and publishing several articles from English into Italian. In the same year also translated and subtitled three short movies for the IV edition of the Ortometraggi Film Festival, and earlier this year I worked on dialogues and quests for the videogame Glos: The Game, in addition to other smaller unpublished projects.
These experiences have allowed me to become proficient with major CAT tools (MemoQ, Matecat, Trados) as well as subtitling and editing softwares such as Aegisub and Wordpress.
Currently, I work part-time as an English tutor on an American platform, teaching students of every age or level. However, my love for languages and communication accompanies me since childhood and, along with the teaching skills I've acquired in the recent years, and my wide range of interests (including theatre, literature, historical fencing, cinema, musicals, editing, art, photography etc.), it has helped me to develop a flexible vocabulary and tone, as well as a keen sensitivity to both the authorial voice and the reader's perception.
