About
I'm British-born, but now based in South Germany (near Munich). I'm a full-time translator and proof-reader and run a small agency called Amper Translation Service. My customers are mainly universities and businesses in Germany and Switzerland.
Before going freelance 20 years ago, I ran a larger translation agency in Munich for five years, which specialised in technical translations in various European languages. I've worked as a project manager for many years now and am used to working with customers and suppliers alike, coordinating projects and making sure they are completed on schedule.
I have translated a number of books myself over the years (one was on business ethics, another on Jewish art history) and translated or proof-read hundreds of academic articles, mainly to do with codicology (manuscripts), history and Area Studies (politics, governance, economics, society). I am most at home in subjects concerned with the humanities, but I have also done a lot of work concerned with engineering and patents due to long-term contracts with Siemens.
