Position: Hmong Over-The-Phone Interpreter - 1099

Roles & Responsibilities
· Provide telephonic interpretations for customer service inquiries in languages other than English. Telephonic interpretations may be from English to the target language or from the target language back to English.
· Maintain confidentiality of all interpretations and translations; protects the integrity of information concerning Personal Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII) (personal health records, etc.) while handling calls.
· Adhere to all applicable Federal Privacy and Security acts, especially the Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Privacy Act.
· Confidential and Secure Communications: Ensure all interpreted communications meet the strict confidentiality and security requirements set by our customers, including handling sensitive information with the utmost discretion.
· Compliance with Government Protocols: Adhere to specific government protocols and guidelines for interpreting, including understanding the legal and ethical obligations involved in government-related communications.
· Interagency Coordination: Facilitate communication across various government agencies ensuring accurate and efficient information exchange.
· Immigration and Asylum Support: Provide critical interpretation services for immigration interviews, asylum hearings, and refugee consultations, aiding in the fair and efficient processing of individuals seeking entry or asylum.
· Law Enforcement and Judicial Proceedings: Offer interpretation services for investigations, depositions, and court proceedings, ensuring non-English speakers can fully participate and understand legal processes.
· Emergency and Disaster Response: Be available for rapid response interpreting during national emergencies, natural disasters, or public health crises, facilitating critical communication between government officials and the public.
· Diplomatic and International Affairs: Support diplomatic efforts and international relations by providing interpretation for negotiations, treaties, and international conferences, contributing to clear and productive international communication.
· Training and Briefings: Interpret for training sessions, briefings, and workshops for government employees and officials, ensuring access to essential information for non-English speakers.
· Documentation and Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of interpretations according to government requirements, ensuring traceability and accountability of information.
Required Qualifications
· Native-level mastery/fluency of both languages (English and target)
· An extensive vocabulary ranging from formal language to colloquialisms and slang.
· Industry-specific vocabulary, including medical terminology, legal, insurance, etc.
· 1-3 years of linguistic experience
· Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with the public.
· Trained and competent in healthcare and health insurance terminology.
· Confident telephone voice for interpretation of inquiries received via telephone.
· Demonstrated strong listening and memory retention skills, relay information accurately, thoroughly, and succinctly.
· Demonstrated understanding of the interpreter's role as a conduit to solve the problem and not as a problem solver.
· Ability to remain unbiased, objective, and impartial at all times.

Pay: $15.00 - $30.00 per hour
