A nonprofit education system in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to work at one of their preschools in Jamaica. Working alongside other Therapists, the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for treating children with developmental disabilities and helping them to access the academic environment and participate to the maximum extent possible in educationally related activities. This has the potential to continue into the Summer Program as well as an opportunity to return for following school year for the right candidate. New graduates are encouraged to apply!
***Orientation to the note taking system prior to starting will be provided. Clinical mentorship and guidance is also offered, as needed.***
Responsibilities:
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will be responsible for:
- Evaluating and treating students with disabilities
- Maintaining daily progress and attendance records
- Writing progress reports
- Attending IEP meetings
- Recommending adaptive equipment, environmental accommodations or assistive technology
- Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (New graduates are encouraged to apply!)
- NYS Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) license
- NYS issued TSSLD
- Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
- Patient oriented
- Great interpersonal skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Strong attention to detail
- Highly organized
Desired Skills:
- 6+ months of experience working with the Pediatric population
- Previous experience in a School setting
