Purpose:
Provides interpretation during visits and at other program related activities as needed and assigned.
Responsibilities:
- Provides interpretation/translation during visits as needed and assigned.
- Completes accurate, timely and confidential documentation/records as assigned. Examples include, but not limited to timecard entry, OPS calendar, database and mileage.
- Participates in mandatory agency/team meetings, supervision, and other trainings/meeting as identified appropriate.
- Manages time, organization, and scheduling to the needs of the program as well as other job duties and responsibilities. Examples: response to scheduler, clients, nurses and case managers regarding assignments and message delivery.
- Complies with standards and ethical guidelines of the role of a professional/interpreter as given during onboarding and throughout employment with EveryStep.
Qualifications:
- Required: fluent written and verbal bilingual communication skills in English and languages required by the target population.
- Required: knowledge of written and oral interpretation/translation techniques. Willingness to complete or previous completion of a minimum interpreter-training program. (Equivalent examples: Basic Interpreter Training, Bridging the Gap)
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to accept and work with diverse populations
- Ability to be flexible with a varying schedule and programmatic requirements
- Good working knowledge of community resources and accessing these resources preferred
- Ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to work with the management information system and complete data entry
- Mandatory Reporter of Child and Dependent Adult abuse training certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Successful completion of pre-employment physical, drug screen, 2-step TB test and background check
Working Conditions:
- Physical requirements: Sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds occasionally, and/or a small amount of force frequently to move objects, including the human body
- Physical activities: Reaching, Standing, Walking, Pushing, Pulling, Lifting, Talking, Fingering (picking, pinching, typing, etc.) Hearing, Grasping (applying pressure with fingers and palm), Repetitive motions, Feeling (perceiving size, shape, texture, temperature by touching), Visual acuity (field of vision for analyzing data, viewing computer, using measurement devices, operating machines, determining accuracy or neatness, and/or making general observations)
- Environment: Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential
- Time: Ability to be flexible with a varying schedule and programmatic requirements
- Travel: Required between locations
