Minimum Qualifications:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· 1 Year of experience as a medical interpreter
· Nationally certified at the time of hire or obtain certification within the first year of employment.
· Advanced language skills in at least two languages, English and American Sign Language or a foreign language of limited diffusion; Experience interpreting in medical settings; Understanding of ethical and professional codes of conduct.
Key Responsibilities:
· Facilitate communication between LEP patients/visitors and LMC staff/providers by interpreting spoken or signed messages in American Sign Language and/or Languages of Limited Diffusion.
· Bridge cultural and linguistic barriers while adhering to medical interpreting conventions.
· Provide sight-translation of materials to enhance patient and family understanding of medical procedures, treatment, instructions, and follow-up care.
