Responsibilities
- Evaluate: Assess speech, language, and swallowing skills
- Diagnose: Identify the underlying causes of communication disorders
- Treat: Create and implement treatment plans to address functional needs
- Teach: Help clients improve their voice, pronunciation, and fluency
- Counsel: Provide guidance to patients and their families
- Collaborate: Work with other healthcare professionals, educators, and families
- Screen: Conduct screenings to identify at-risk patients
- Monitor: Track patient progress and adjust treatment plans
- Document: Maintain accurate patient records
- Train: Provide training and support to caregivers and educators
Education and requirements
Master's degree in speech-language pathology and a valid state license or certification.
