Position Summary

Title: Foreign Language Teacher
Department: Reports to Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction
Classification: Full time for 2025-2026 school year
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., plus scheduled events with required attendance.

Overview

St. Pius X High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Foreign Language Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop language skills in Spanish or French and foster a love for learning. This role requires a commitment to creating an engaging classroom environment that embraces the school mission and supports the strategic initiatives of community and inclusion. This position reports to the Assistant Principal for Curriculum and Instruction, is responsible for delivering high-quality and innovative instruction, and is open to feedback and professional collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead six sections of foreign language (Spanish or French) and serve as an advisor for approximately 10 students.
Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and meet the diverse needs of students.
Utilize technology and instructional design techniques to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Conduct assessments to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback.
Collaborate with colleagues, department chair, Assistant Principals and Principal to enhance curriculum development and share best practices.
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding academic performance and classroom behavior.
Research new teaching methods and educational technologies to improve student engagement and learning outcomes.
Provide support for students through tutorials and offering targeted review sessions for standardized testing.
Contribute to the student life experience by sponsoring a co-curricular activity or coaching a sport.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary by school leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Commitment to embrace the Catholic Mission and Dominican Charism at St. Pius X High School.
Completion of Safe Haven environment training.
Bachelor's degree in related field, advanced degree preferred.
Strong background in foreign language(s) with a minimum of 24 hours of college-level courses.
Posses a teaching certificate or 12 credit hours in education courses.
Experience working with high school students of varying abilities and backgrounds, fostering an inclusive classroom environment. AP instruction is a plus.
Proficient in lesson planning and curriculum development, ensuring alignment with educational standards.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to students and parents.
Ability to manage classroom and time effectively and cheerfully perform extra duties as outlined in employment contract.
Familiarity with instructional design principles that enhance student engagement and retention of knowledge.
Demonstrates enthusiasm and optimism, a passion for teaching, and a commitment to student success.
