Your Opportunity
As The Captioning And Translation Coordinator, You Will
- Promote Deaf and Hard of Hearing (D/HH) students and staff, by leading and managing communication strategies, organise major school events and support both teaching and non-teaching staff by addressing translation, captioning, and access needs.
- Film, produce, edit and develop content tailored for the internal and external communications of the Deaf Department and support relevant staff in filming, editing and producing projects for both internal and external initiatives of the school.
The Captioning and Translation Coordinator reports to the Head of Department, Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provide specialist advice and apply technical skills in filming and video development for captioning and translation.
- Responsible for maintaining, organising and coordinating the captioning and Auslan translation process/template for school staff to submit files.
- Research and make recommendations for the development of high quality, innovative online products to meet objectives.
- Manage the school calendar and events schedule that requires captioning and/or translation and collaborate with teaching staff to address the translated and captioned work of D/HH students.
- Coordinate the Auslan Hub Qlearn, the distribution of Auslan translated and captioned content and liaise with the Head of Department for timetabling changes or arrangement of ADO hours.
- Implement initiatives to promote key aspects of the school and assist with promotional launches and events that support D/HH staff, students and community.
- Liaise with relevant staff for the engagement of the school's website and social media where captioning/translation is required.
