IXL Learning, developer of personalized learning products used by millions of people globally, is seeking a Language Learning Specialist, focused on English for Specific Purposes, to join our Rosetta Stone curriculum development team. The Rosetta Stone immersive language learning platform is trusted by individuals, schools, and global enterprises alike.
In this role, you will use your expertise in adult English language acquisition to craft creative, engaging, and informative online courses designed for intermediate and advanced learners. These courses will be focused on topics relevant to specific industries (e.g., Hospitality, First Responders, Information Technology). Your strong writing skills, creative problem solving, educational insights, and commitment to quality will contribute to expanding our Rosetta Stone for Enterprise program. #LI-FA1
This is a full-time position in our Harrisonburg, VA office. The work schedule for this role is Monday-Friday in the office with the option to work from home one day per week.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Collaborate with curriculum managers, visual designers, and other stakeholders to develop curricula for courses that teach language used in industry-specific settings
- Design, write, and edit clear and engaging activities that model and practice accurate, communicative English
- Ensure content meets internal curriculum and style guidelines, as well as appropriate educational standards
- Collaborate with writing teams, visual designers, and media developers to determine appropriate instructional approaches
- Develop and manage project plans to coordinate the work of writing and media development teams
- Use proprietary software tools to implement, review, and publish final content
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in English as a Second Language, Linguistics, Education, or a related field
- Five years experience in instructional design and curriculum development for adult second language acquisition
- Excellent writing and editing abilities
- Native-level fluency in English, plus proficiency in at least one other language
- Familiarity with common language proficiency standards (CEFR, WIDA, ACTFL, etc.)
- Ability to quickly learn new guidelines and software
- Strong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
- Can-do attitude with openness to others' ideas
- Highly self-motivated and efficient with superb attention to detail
