Description: The 4th/5th Grade Dual Language Math Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, standards-based math instruction to all 4th and 5th-grade students. This role involves teaching both students enrolled in the dual language program and those who are not. The teacher supports students' academic and linguistic growth by integrating content and language objectives, fostering biliteracy and bilingualism.
Key Responsibilities: - Plan and deliver math instruction in English and Spanish, aligned with state standards and the district's dual language framework.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students at varying levels of language proficiency and mathematical understanding.
- Foster an interactive, student-centered classroom environment that encourages collaboration, discussion, and problem-solving.
- Use sheltered instruction strategies (e.g., visuals, manipulatives, scaffolding) to support English learners.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing data-driven instruction and targeted interventions as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including dual language, general education, and special education teachers, to align curriculum and best practices.
- Maintain ongoing communication with families in both English and Spanish to support student learning and engagement.
- Promote cultural competency and affirm students' linguistic and cultural identities within the classroom.
