Hybrid: 02 days of the week working from home.
Role:
The candidate will act as one of the principal contacts externally to Public Safety associations and agencies for the purpose of emergency related database development and maintenance, education, problem resolution and general relationship building. The benefits of these relationships are establishing OnStar’s operational efficiencies in supporting emergency calls, new technologies, and creating our GM and OnStar brand equity in South America. The candidate will also support operational process/procedure development and serve as a regional public safety subject matter expert, as appropriate.
- Become a subject matter expert on the OnStar business model and have an effective understanding of OnStar’s Emergency and Security services, technologies, and GM’s global ethics and security policies;
- Lead a regional effort to develop a public safety and commercial database of jurisdictional boundaries and contact information for use by OnStar;
- Establish strategic relationships with appropriate emergency communication centers, law enforcement, emergency medical and fire service agencies in where services are available in the region;
- As appropriate, establish relationships with the commercial counterparts to these agencies to understand alternative service delivery options and protocols;
- Coordinate and confirm the accuracy of translation/localization of public safety marketing materials and correspondence to the regional languages;
- Coordinate and manage participation in appropriate conferences, seminars, meetings and other gatherings. Work with marketing and finance representatives to ensure that all appropriate arrangements are in place to support OnStar’s participation;
- Address questions and concerns from internal and external sources regarding public safety matters;
- Support accurate, timely and adequate communication between OnStar and our emergency services partners, acting as an ambassador for the company;
- Create annual recommended outreach plans and budget to further foster relationships;
- Follow up and work with appropriate cross functional teams within OnStar to ensure that our performance and interface with these agencies follow adopted policies and processes;
- Communicate progress and changes with these relationships to all relevant parties;
- Support the development and implementation of new products/services/technologies offered by OnStar, including data sharing, Emergency Medical Dispatch, and other enhanced programs introduced by acting as a regional SME offering public safety viewpoints and impacts;
- Align best practices from North American to the public safety strategy for the region;
- Interface with the regional call center on emergency services related incidents impacting emergency response;
- Interface with regional GM Policy, GM Communication and GM Legal, representatives and other cross-functional teams aligning priorities and message for external stakeholders;
- As a GM Public Policy team member, act on the regulatory discussions and advocacy efforts related to OnStar Services, such as vehicle connectivity, data management, and emergency services, as well as broader initiatives in areas like autonomous driving, cybersecurity, environmental regulations, and consumer privacy;
- Seek for opportunities to position GM as a leader in technology innovation within the critical stakeholders;
- Advocate for policies that support the integration of OnStar services with public safety initiatives, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal regulations;
- Monitor and analyze legislative developments related to emergency services, data privacy, and vehicle connectivity to inform OnStar's strategic positioning;
- Collaborate with the GM Public Policy team to develop position papers and policy briefs that articulate GM's stance on key issues affecting OnStar and public safety;
- Engage with industry associations and coalitions to promote GM's interests in public policy discussions related to technology and emergency services;
- Develop outreach strategies to educate policymakers and stakeholders about the benefits of OnStar's services in enhancing public safety and emergency response;
- Create a feedback loop with emergency services partners to gather insights on policy impacts and advocate for necessary changes to improve service delivery.
Additional Job Description
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent;
- Broad familiarity with regional public safety industry, including standard operating procedures, culture, publications, and supporting public safety associations;
- Advanced/fluent English (Ability to conduct business in written and spoken English);
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams);
- Previous experience in an emergency services community or related field; Flexibility for significant local and international travel 50-60%.
