- Previous teaching experience in a K-12 classroom setting, preferably in world language instruction.
- Familiarity with ACTFL standards and proficiency-based language teaching methodologies.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and differientiating instruction.
Position:
- Great Valley High School is seeking a dynamic and passionate French World Language Teacher to join our World Language Department for a full-time, 1.0 FTE position. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a positive and engaging learning environment while promoting proficiency in French through communication-based instruction. The candidate will also demonstrate an ability to create a supportive, culturally rich classroom atmosphere that encourages language acquisition, cultural understanding, and personal growth.
Essential Functions: - Instruction: Deliver comprehensive French language instruction in accordance with the ACTFL World-Readiness Standards, focusing on the four key skills: Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing. Engage students through communicative, immersive, and interactive teaching methods.
- Curriculum Design: Develop, implement, and refine a curriculum that aligns with state standards and the ACTFL guidelines. Ensure lessons are culturally relevant, diverse, and inclusive of global perspectives.
- Assessment: Regularly assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback that supports language growth and achievement of proficiency goals. Utilize a variety of assessment methods, including performance-based assessments and portfolios.
- Classroom Management: Create a respectful, safe, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation, risk-taking in language learning, and fosters a love of French language and culture.
- Differentiation: Adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners, including students with varying levels of language proficiency, learning styles, and special education requirements.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other world language teachers and staff to share best practices, engage in professional development, and maintain consistent instructional goals across the department.
- Professional Development: Pursue ongoing professional development opportunities in language instruction, curriculum development, and pedagogy, and participate in school-wide initiatives and committees.
Qualifications:
- Pennsylvania teaching certification in French.
- Bachelor's degree in French, Education, or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in French (both written and spoken).
- Commitment to teaching French language and culture.
- Ability to use technology and digital tools to enhance language instruction
