JOB DESCRIPTIONTITLE: Early Intervention Program Foreign Language Interpreter/Translator.

SUMMARY: To interpret spoken language and translate written material, from one language to another, for Families unable to communicated effectively in the English Language.

SALARY: $35.00 PER HOUR

DUTIES:

Documented proficiency in the language needed as well as English.

Excellent writing and grammatical skills in two or more languages

Ability to work in the Early Intervention Management System.

To interpret spoken language or translate written material, from one language to another during Early Intervention Program Sessions.

Verbally interpret from English to the language of the family, what the practitioners is saying, during early intervention sessions, therapy sessions without personalized comments.

Verbally interpret from English to the language of the family, during Team, IFSP, Transition and Family Support /Training Meetings.

Communicate with EI Practitioners and Family to set up Early Intervention Session appointments via email, text, or telephone.

Translate written Agency and State documentation including forms, policies, emails etc. from English to the language of the family verbally and/or in writing upon request.

To be available at a variety of days/times to provide interpretation services at the times/days requested by the family around the child/family’s daily routines.

Complete and submit appropriate documentation, including Initial Contact Notes, Ongoing Contact Notes, Family Service Notes and Verification Logs, adhering to required timelines.
Participates in Regional Collaborative Early Intervention activities and educational programs.

To respect and maintain confidentiality of the child/family.

Travel is a condition of employment.

Performs other related tasks or responsibilities as directed by supervisor or program director.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of rules and regulation of the New Jersey Early Intervention system.
Ability to communicate via email, text, or telephone.
Proficiency in the language needed as well as English.

Skills/Abilities:

Establish and maintain relationships with each family/child, co-workers, supervisors, and administrators.
Experience collaborating with individuals from birth to five years of age and their families.
Carry out Pillar Care Continuum Early Intervention Program Goals and Objectives.
Adhere to personnel policies and safety precautions.
Adhere to Department of Health Early Intervention System’s Policies and Procedures.
Respect and maintain confidentiality.

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School Diploma or GED
Fingerprints/Background check
Fluency in two or more languages
To communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; in two or more languages.
A good understanding and in-depth knowledge of language/country-specific cultures/regionalism
