Languages are key to our mission of building human connection and as the Internationalization (i18n) team, we partner with teams across the Meta to make our products available in up to 100 languages. ~90% of our users are outside of North America and we continue to expand internationally. The Language Management team is at the forefront of ensuring that localized products feel local to our global audience. We are a dedicated group focused on optimizing language processes, defining quality standards, maintaining linguistic quality, and driving innovative solutions for localization and internationalization. We are committed to breaking down language barriers and empowering our users worldwide to seamlessly use our wide range of products.We are seeking an experienced Manager to lead our geographically distributed Language Management team. This leader will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of language management, including translation, localization, linguistic quality assurance, and the development and implementation of language technologies and strategies. You will possess a thorough understanding of linguistic nuances, localization technologies and workflows, and have experience fostering a collaborative environment and driving quality work with seamless execution.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of language managers, fostering a work environment of collaboration in which individuals can thrive and grow to deliver on the most impactful projects supporting i18n’s mission and priorities

Lead the end-to-end language management process, from content localizability to final delivery, ensuring accuracy, consistency, fluency, and appropriateness across our wide range of localized products and content types

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product teams, content creators, and regional stakeholders) to establish workflows that ensure optimal linguistic quality and user experience

Partner with external language service providers (LSPs) to ensure that the right frameworks and resources are in place and deliveries are completed at the expected standards

Partner with our engineering teams to implement innovative language technologies and develop our localization platform and tools to increase efficiency and improve quality

Bachelor's degree in Translation, Linguistics, Communications, a related field, or equivalent experience

12+ years of experience in language management, localization, or a related field

5+ years experience in people management

Proven experience leading and managing a team of linguists, language or localization professionals

Demonstrated experience of managing complex, large-scale projects and prioritizing effectively

Experience working with language service providers

Experience with localization platforms or CAT tools that manage, optimize and/or automate translation or the localization workflow

Experience processing and analyzing complex data sets, and interpreting them to make business decisions

Fluency in English and at least one other language

Experience thriving in a deadline-focused, time-sensitive global environment and work across multiple time zones

Experience running a large-scale localization program (multiple products into a large number of languages)

Experience with leading a 30+ person team

Experience with implementation of AI technologies in the localization domain
