Job Summary
We are seeking a certified medical Spanish Interpreter to facilitate communication between Spanish-speaking individuals and English-speaking professionals in healthcare settings. The ideal candidate will possess strong bilingual skills, a deep understanding of medical terminology, and the ability to accurately interpret spoken communications while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
Duties
- Provide accurate interpretation services for Spanish-speaking patients and clients in medical, legal, and social service environments.
- Review documentation for accuracy and completeness before interpretation sessions.
- Maintain confidentiality of all communications in compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers, social workers, and other professionals to facilitate effective communication.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity and understanding during all interactions.
Qualifications
- National certification by NBCMI or CCHI or completion of a 40 hour medical interpreting course is required.
- Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English is required; additional languages are a plus.
- Experience in medical terminology is preferred, particularly within hospital settings.
- Knowledge of child protective services processes is advantageous.
- Strong documentation review skills to ensure accuracy in translated materials.
- Ability to interpret spoken language fluently while maintaining the original message's intent.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations regarding patient confidentiality is essential.
- Previous experience as an interpreter or in a related field is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work effectively under pressure.

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
