Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Lingala Interpreter to facilitate clear and accurate communication across diverse settings. Responsibilities
- Provide real-time interpretation between Lingala and English in spoken communication, ensuring messages are conveyed accurately and contextually.
- Facilitate effective communication during meetings, interviews, medical appointments, legal proceedings, or community outreach events.
- Assist with translation of written documents, forms, or informational materials from Lingala to English and vice versa.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to ethical standards of interpretation.
- Collaborate with team members to prepare for upcoming assignments and clarify terminology or cultural nuances as needed.
- Support cultural understanding by explaining idiomatic expressions or cultural references during interactions.
- Document interpretation sessions when required and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Fluent in both Lingala and English, with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in both languages.
- Proven experience in interpretation or translation across diverse settings such as healthcare, legal, educational, or community services.
- Strong understanding of linguistic principles, including phonetics, semantics, and cultural context.
- Ability to interpret accurately under pressure while maintaining professionalism and neutrality.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with individuals from varied backgrounds.
