Qualifications:
- NIC Written Certification - Preferred but not required.
- Must be on CT Interpreter Registry
- Must be fluent in ASL
Reports to: Director of Special Services
Position Summary: To support communication for the Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing children within the mainstream setting. Prefer candidates to have experience working with Deaf or Hard-of-Hearing students with varying needs and modes of communication. Specialized training and willingness to participate in training in the use of assistive devices, amplification equipment, and language facilitator techniques in various forms of sign language/spoken language preferred.
Position Expectations:
- Signing/voicing teacher/student communication
- Facilitating communication between teacher/student/peers
- Support academic content, provide instructional support and management of amplification systems.
