Job Description:
As a medical interpreter with Metaphrasis Language & Cultural Solutions, you will play a vital role in assisting our healthcare clients in delivering quality medical care while improving service outcomes for all through accurate, complete, and professional on-site interpreting. We welcome applications from interpreters who have received formal training and demonstrate proficiency in the required languages. Additionally, candidates must possess strong linguistic skills, interpretation techniques, a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology, adherence to the National Code of Ethics for Interpreting in Healthcare, and compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
This is a flexible position that allows you to choose your own hours, making it ideal for those seeking a work-life balance or additional income.
As an independent contractor, we will consider the following factors:
- Completion of a minimum of 40 hours of consolidated training in medical interpreting OR any combination of training and experience which provides required knowledge, skills and ability to perform the duties of the position.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
- Ability to provide documentation of immunizations/vaccinations for compliance with healthcare clients
- High proficiency in both native language and English, with a solid understanding of medical terminology
- Demonstrated professionalism in demeanor, attitude, punctuality, and adherence to each client's policies
- Willingness to continually grow professionally in the interpreting industry
- Availability during, before, and or/after business hours
- Occasional willingness to travel to various facilities in the Chicagoland area and/or suburbs
- Experience with online scheduling platforms such as Zoom, Google Meets, etc.
