About the role
We are seeking a skilled Manual QA Engineer (Mid-level) to join our quality assurance team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in backend testing, including proficiency in REST API and/or gRPC testing methodologies. This person will be adept at working with logs and monitoring systems to analyze system behavior and performance. Additionally, the candidate should have strong SQL skills for data validation and be comfortable working with real devices for integration testing. A proactive mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with development and product management teams are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Backend Testing: Thoroughly test backend systems, including REST APIs and gRPC services, to ensure functionality and reliability.
- Log Analysis and Monitoring: Analyze system logs using various monitoring tools (e.g., Kibana, Graphana, Sentry) to identify and diagnose issues. Utilize SQL queries to receive logs.
- Bug Reporting: Prepare comprehensive bug reports that clearly articulate the identified defects, including steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual results, and any relevant attachments.
- Integration Testing: Conduct integration testing on real devices to ensure seamless compatibility and stability across different hardware and software configurations.
- Second-Line Support: Provide second-line support for issues escalated from Samsung departments, collaborating with other teams to investigate and resolve problems.
- Localization Testing: Perform localization testing for the Korean market, including verification of Korean retailers and ensuring a culturally appropriate user experience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development and product teams to communicate QA findings, advocate for quality improvements, and ensure a user-centric focus throughout the development process.
- Samsung Projects: Participate in QA efforts for Samsung-related projects (e.g., Samsung Health, TV, Digital Appliances), providing thorough validation before major product launches (e.g., CES, IFA, One Launch).
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Foster collaboration between SF QA and Samsung QA teams, facilitating communication and knowledge sharing to enhance overall QA effectiveness.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2-4 years of experience in manual testing, with a strong emphasis on backend testing.
- Proficiency in REST API and/or gRPC testing methodologies.
- Experience working with logs and monitoring systems.
- SQL skills for issue investigation.
- Native Korean speaker and full working proficiency in English for effective communication with global teams.
- Proactive attitude and ability to advocate for QA concerns.
Nice to Have:
- User experience with Samsung products and ecosystems (such as smart kitchen devices, Smart TVs, smart fridges, smartwatches, etc.).
- Familiarity with test automation tools (even if primarily manual, exposure to automation is a plus).
- Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and version control systems.
- Experience in localization testing and understanding of Korean retailers (preferred).
Terms of Engagement
- On-site at Samsung Digital City in Suwon, South Korea.
- Contract-based, full-time role (40 hours/week) with a long-term commitment.
