Localization Editor (1-year Contract)
Team DescriptionThe Localization Team at RIDI is dedicated to bringing Korean web novels to a global audience by adapting stories for readers around the world. Our work goes beyond simple translation—we strive to deliver a reading experience that feels just as natural and captivating in English as in the original Korean. Our editors and project managers collaborate closely to make this possible.
Job Description- Review and finalize translated web novel content for publishing
- Train vendors and freelancers to meet quality standards
- Develop, update, and refine QA guidelines
- Manage external resources, including hiring freelancers and overseeing their training and evaluations
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to monitor project progress, quality standards, and any QA-related issues
📌 This is a 1-year contract position.
Required Qualifications- Exceptional proficiency in English, with writing and editing ability at a near-native level
- Excellent command of American English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Strong writing and editing skills with a solid grasp of narrative tone and flow
- Ability to identify and resolve inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and readability or tone issues in localized translations
- High attention to detail
- Intermediate proficiency in Korean (reading and speaking)
- Professional experience in proofreading or editing
- Strong communication skills for providing feedback and training to peers, vendors, and freelancers
- Legal authorization to work in Korea (valid work visa or eligibility to obtain one)
Preferred Qualifications- At least 1 year of experience localizing translated content
- Familiarity with English fiction writing and storytelling conventions
- Experience working with web novels or serialized fiction
- Strong understanding of North American culture and familiarity with Korean cultural references and norms
- Experience using EPUB editors or creating EPUB files
