Translation Project Quality Manager
Full-Time, Permanent On payroll if based in the UK or freelancer
We are seeking a meticulous and experienced Translation Project Quality Manager to oversee the quality assurance and project management of our translation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in translation and localization, especially in localization of eLearning products, exceptional project management skills, and a passion for maintaining the highest standards of quality. This role involves managing quality control processes, coordinating with linguists, train our internal reviewers on the use of CAT tools and ensuring that all translated content meets our internal clients' expectations and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance Management:
- Develop and implement robust quality assurance processes and standards for translation projects.
- Conduct regular quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and cultural and legislative appropriateness of translated content.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and client-specific requirements
Project Management:
- Plan, execute, and oversee translation projects from initiation to completion, Including roll out process for the translation of training products.
- Coordinate with translators, and editors to ensure smooth workflow and adherence to project timelines.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies.
Linguist Coordination:
- Select, train, and evaluate linguists and reviewers to ensure they meet the companys quality standards.
- Provide feedback and guidance to linguists to help them improve their performance.
- Ensure that linguists have access to up-to-date resources, such as glossaries and style guides.
Internal Client Interaction:
- Communicate with internal clients to understand their quality expectations and requirements.
- Address any quality-related concerns and ensure client satisfaction.
- Provide regular updates to clients on project status and quality metrics.
Process Improvement:
Identify areas for improvement in quality assurance and project management processes.
Implement best practices to enhance quality standards and operational efficiency.
Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in translation technology.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain detailed records of quality assurance activities and project management documentation.
Generate regular reports on quality metrics and project status.
Provide insights and recommendations to management based on quality data.
Tool and Resource Management:
Utilize translation and quality assurance tools effectively, including CAT tools and translation management systems (SmartCat).
Ensure all resources, such as glossaries and style guides, are up-to-date and accessible to the translation team.
Manage software and tools used in translation projects, ensuring optimal utilization and efficiency.
Keep translation memories up-to-date and clean, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors degree in Translation, Linguistics, Language Studies, Project Management, or a related field. Advanced degree or certification in translation/quality management is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in translation and localization, with at least 2 years in a quality management and project management role. Experience in localizing eLearning products is highly desirable.
Skills:
- Excellent command of at least one language other than English.
- Strong understanding of translation quality standards and best practices.
- Proficiency in using CAT tools and translation management systems (e.g., SmartCat, SDL Trados, MemoQ).
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
