ACSI Translations is looking for Spanish, Mandarin, Russian, Cabo Verdean, Vietnamese and Cantonese Interpreters to work in-person in different locations around the Boston, Massachusetts area providing services through ACSI to the City of Boston.
CONTRACT MODALITY: Independent Contractor Agreement
Per hour, on as needed basis.
AS AN INTERPRETER, YOU WILL:
Provide high quality, professional remote interpreting services to support the language access and outreach need of Limited English Proficient (LEP) or Non-English Proficient (NEP) people in a variety of settings (such as but not limited to school meetings, conferences, therapy sessions, interviews, medical appointments, etc.).
RESPONSIBILITIES FOR ONSITE FREELANCE INTERPRETER:
- Interpret (in both consecutive and simultaneous mode) or moderate events
- Maintain your appointment schedule
- Provide assistance to other interpreters, clients and consumers on interpretation related
- issues
- Proactive communication with our clients and vendors in afriendly, professional manner
PERSON IN THIS POSITION MUST:
- Collaborate in a professional manner with other team members
- Follow Project Manager’s instructions and perform tasks accordingly
- Seek Project Manager’s support for difficult interpreting situations, and follow instructions
- Adhere to ACSI values, policies and procedures
- Adhere to the Code of Ethics
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- Interpreter Certification from an Accredited University or institution.
- Community Interpreter Professional Training from an accredited organization.
- Legal Interpreter Certification from an accredited organization.
- Medical Interpreter Training Certificate from an accredited organization.
- Federal, State, or the National Association of Judiciary Interpreters and Translators (NAJIT).
- Certification. Judiciary Interpreters and Translators Certification Examination (JITCE) Certification.
- Passage of one or all the following levels of State 61 Department examinations: A. Escort; b. Conference; and c. Seminar.
- Passage of examinations Bided through the Consortium of the National Center for State Courts (NCSC) and/or member states.
- Federal Court Interpreter Certification Examination.
- Have a minimum of 4 years of in-person interpretation experience, with a minimum of 3 years of in-country experience.
- Have Native or near-native level of fluency in the respective source.
